2012 Atlantic Championship Series

Driver Champion: David Grant

Sharon, CT - Formula Race Promotions today announced it has suspended the Atlantic Championship Series for the 2013 race season, releasing the following statement:

"We regret to announce that the Atlantic Championship Series will not take place in 2013. It was in our every intention to expand from a three weekend to five weekend format based on the 2012 season. However, challenges, from lack of entry support to scheduling issues based on aquiring acceptable race dates of premiere road courses suitable for Atlantic race cars on realistic dates at realistic pricing prevented the creation of an adequate schedule. It is our intention to work during the coming months to establish a robust Atlantic Championship Series in 2014.

"Other Formula Race Promotions operated Championships, F2000 and F1600, will continue in 2013 with schedules already announced."

To say that David Grant and his Polestar Swift had a strong season is an understatement. Asked about the low point of was his season, he says, “Not winning Summit Point.”  After winning the first four events, all he did at Summit was to come home second on Saturday to clinch the championship.
