Cahan Racing Team Joins Formula Race Promotions Program in 2024

January 8, 2024

Acquiring assets from another race team, Ayrton and Gabriel Cahan are set to make their Formula Race Promotions (FRP) debut in 2024. Running under the Cahan Racing Team banner, the duo from New Mexico will see action in the F1600 class with Ayrton and F2000 with Gabriel. Entering FRP to learn and gain experience, Cahan Racing’s drivers are looking to make an immediate impact as they aim to climb the motorsports ladder.

“We are relatively new to racing and have only been competing at a high level for less than two years,” expressed Gabriel Cahan. “While we may lack a little experience in Formula-type cars, I know the drive to win, learn, and succeed lives in our family's blood and we are excited to compete under our family racing team banner.”

Competing in the F1600 class, Ayrton continued, “I am anxious and excited to get going. While we live in New Mexico and all series events are in the Eastern half of the country, it will be a lot of travel, several nights in hotels, but we live for it and can’t wait to get started.”

Beginning their racing career in karting back in 2012 at the ages of four and six, Ayrton and Gabriel have progressed through the local ranks to get to where they are today. Competing in the national ranks in 2022 and throughout 2023, the full-time move to open-wheel racing in 2024 is just the start for the Cahan duo. Focused on motorsports both on and off the track, the Cahan’s are pursuing educational degrees in both Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, all while looking to compete at the front of their respective classes in FRP competition.

Gabriel Cahan continued, “From a young age, we have lived and breathed racing.  The spark first ignited watching our dad race Spec Miata. Whether we were making car sounds, racing our Hot Wheels, working on our battery-operated Lighting McQueen, or just getting to know the mechanisms of cars, we have gained so much knowledge that will prove to be an asset moving forward.” Ayrton added “We are hard-working students who have been great mentors to other racers and are actively working towards exploring our passion to see what may come from it.”
