Lexington, OH - Not deterred by losing the lead on the opening lap from pole, Peter Portante rallied back to his sixth straight Atlantic Championship Series victory in the 2017 season, winning round seven at Mid-Ohio. The K-Hill driver re-took the lead from David Grant early in a thrilling race and never looked back in the mid-point of the season, winning ahead of a battle between Polestar teammates Keith and David Grant.
Quotes from the Top Finishers:
"It was another good day, the car was good. It is super simple to drive such a great car. I need to thank all the boys at Guinness and K-Hill Motorsports. It was another day in the car and we'll see what we can do tomorrow. You never know, last time we were at Mid-Ohio, we pulled out a gap and then David closed in. You can never stop pushing."
"I was having a few issues toward the end, but the car handled well. We couldn't do enough to keep up with Peter."
"It was a good day after the first few laps, but that ruined the race for us."
Bruce Hamilton (Masters Class Winner):
"The goal was to try to stay as much with the Swift 016s as I could, we accomplished that. The other goal was to bring it home in one piece, which I didn't do last time. The track conditions definitely improved from the morning."
