Daniel Burkett is on pole at VIRAlton, VA – After suffering from mechanical issues on Saturday’s session that prevented him from running the race, Daniel Burkett from K-Hill Motorsports, set fast lap and secured his fourth pole position in the Atlantic Championship Series. Atlantic Creations driver, Jimmy Simpson, will be starting second this afternoon after swapping fast lap with Burkett multiple times throughout the qualifying session. Matt Miller of COMPREP will be starting third in round six at Virginia International Raceway.

Jimmy SimpsonAlton, VA – After an aborted start, Jimmy Simpson ended up on the top step on the podium in round five of the Atlantic Championship Series in his Atlantic Creations Swift 016. K-Hill Motorsport’s father-son duo, The Kearby’s, made their first joint trip to the podium with Conner finishing ahead of his father Gaston, both driving Swift 016 Atlantic cars in a hard-fought 15-lap event. This race marks the halfway point of the Atlantic Championship Season and a pivotal point in the Championship battle. There is one more race at VIR on Sunday, then events at Mid-Ohio and Thompson later in the summer.

Jimmy SimpsonAlton, VA – Jimmy Simpson, driving for Atlantic Creations, set the fast lap of 1:42.261, and grabbed the pole position for round five of the ten race Atlantic Championship Series season. Since this is the first time the series has been to this track, his fast lap will become the track qualifying record.

David GrantAlton, VA – The Atlantic Championship Series had its VIRginia International Raceway debut Friday June 6, on a newly paved track. As the day ended it was Polestar’s Keith Grant at the top of the time sheets in the afternoon practice session. Grant is still looking for his first win on the season while Jimmy Simpson and Daniel Burkett, who had an up-and-down day, followed on the time sheets.

This is the first time the Atlantic Championship Series will be racing at VIR. In the past, this track has marked the opening rounds of the F2000 Championship Series and the F1600 Formula F Championship Series.
